    Southern Style Vegan Grits

We love a good hearty breakfast at our house. And these Southern Style Vegan Grits are the perfect addition to complete any southern breakfast plate. When we first began eating a more plant based diet and eliminated dairy…I thought all my “go-to” recipes were a wash. But over time, I have tinkered and experimented with converting them to a vegan version. This recipe was originally loaded with cream and cheese (and oh so yummy). But we quickly realized these Southern Style Vegan Grits are just as yummy. We like to eat it alongside a veggie sausage patty and tofu scramble, or sometimes a scrambled egg (because we aren’t total vegans…

    Baby Body Butter

Sometimes I feel as if I put way too much thought into all things. I research and read and google and pinterest. And then I just get overwhelmed with all of the information and ideas that I have found.  This site contains affiliate links to products. He has really dry skin, but the pediatrician has not deemed it eczema. At every check up in those first few months, the doctor would say, “I…

    10 Month Old Meal Ideas

“What my 10 Month Old Eats in a Day” I always enjoy getting meal ideas from other moms. So I thought I’d share a few meal ideas myself in hopes of helping or inspiring other moms. It can be hard coming up with new ideas and a variety of foods. I try hard to expose our son to as many different flavors and textures as possible. He has been such a good eater from day one. I really want these good eating habits to continue.  This site contains affiliate links to products. Pros and Cons of Free Range Chickens

Trying to decide whether or not to free range your chickens? We weigh out the pros and cons of free range chickens at our homestead to help you decide how to raise your own flock. Pros of Free Range Chickens: 1. Happier Hens. Freedom!!! Who wouldn’t be happier with a little bit of freedom in comparison to being “cooped” up all day long. Ha! I like to make sure all of our animals are happy and have the best life – even our chickens. You might also be surprised at how much personality chickens have. Ours hover at the door in the morning waiting for us to open the coop…

    Baby Food Combinations (Free Printable)

Do you ever get stuck wondering what to feed your baby when he or she is eating baby food? This may seem silly if you buy baby food from the store, because they have already done a lot of the thinking for you. And there is a wide variety of options and combinations. But if you’re like me, you have lots of homemade baby food stashed away in the freezer and need some ideas for those Stage 2 baby food combinations. I made homemade baby food in bulk when my baby was 6-8 weeks old. It was an easy task to accomplish during nap time with an instant pot, a…

    Baby Schedule: 9 Months Old

One of the best words of advice I ever received as a new mom is to have a schedule!! I have had our baby on a schedule since he was a newborn and I’m convinced that having a schedule helped my milk supply and is the reason our baby started sleeping through the night at 6 weeks old. I’m not a complete drill sergeant about the schedule and can certainly be flexible about it. But it sure makes for a happy baby when he is well fed, well rested and appropriately stimulated (brain and learning wise)…which in turn makes everyone happy! As a new mom, I research a lot! Which…

5 Ways to Spruce Up Your Baby’s Oatmeal Cereal

Oatmeal cereal is a quick and easy go to breakfast for our little one at our house. I like that it doesn’t take much prep time, is packed with iron and since I make it with breastmilk – it has all the added goodies of that liquid gold. But I try not to just feed my son plain ole oatmeal cereal every time. I mean, I would get tired of eating it the same way all the time. (Although, he’s such a good eater, I’m not sure he would care one way or the other as long as he’s getting to eat.) I’ve found these are some easy ways to…

    Amaranth Baby Pancakes

Amaranth is gaining popularity in the health food world, however this ancient grain has been around for ages! It has an earthy, nutty flavor and is packed with protein, fiber, antioxidants and micronutrients – specifically iron, phosphorus, manganese, and magnesium.  I was particularly interested in using amaranth to boost iron intake with my son when he started eating more solids and finger foods. I purchased amaranth flour to make porridge and pancakes. Since he really prefers to feed himself, I have been making more pancakes lately so he can be more independent with finger feeding.
